With an important trajectory in the practice of industrial and intellectual property law, María Josefina leads the team of professionals of the firm, who have devoted their practice to this area for years, under her leadership and guidance.
Her expertise and experience in intellectual property matters is the result of more than 25 years of practice representing multinational global corporations, as well as local brands.
She is a graduate of the Law School of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra of Santo Domingo in 1991 and later in 1993, she completed the Masters Degree in Intellectual Property of the John Marshall Law School (Chicago, Illinois), being the first specialist with a degree in the area in the Dominican Republic.
After 18 years as co-director of the Industrial and Intellectual Property practice of Troncoso y Cáceres, she launched her own project in 2011 establishing the firm Felix & Co., a boutique firm focused in Industrial Property. In July 2015, he accepted a proposal to return to Troncoso and Cáceres, at that time as the sole specialist in Industrial and Intellectual Property of the firm, which she leaves in February 2019, to continue her professional practice at Felix & Co., the firm that she had established in the year 211.
She taught the Intellectual Property class at the gradiate level from 2010 to 2015, and of the Distinctive Signs class of the Master in Industrial Property and New Technologies, both of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra de Santo Domingo.
She actively participates in the IP legal community, as a member of the Directive of the Dominican Association of Intellectual Property (ADOPI), writing articles for publications such as the Judicial Gazette and being a frequent speaker in IP seminars for students and professionals, both in the public and private sector.
She participated in the drafting of Law No. 20-00 on Industrial Property and its respective Regulations of Application.
